Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians)
The Vincentians in Panningen belong to a religious community founded by St. Vincent de Paul in 1625. Its Dutch name (Lazaristen) is derived from the name of the community’s first home in Paris, St. Lazare, which used to be a center for lepers. The Vincentians spread all over the world through intensive missionary activities.
The Vincentians established themselves in the Netherlands in 1882 and started working in “Missiehuis St. Jozef” at Panningen in 1903. Here it is where they have lived and worked since then.
